Remember the days? You know, when we would hold up our cassette players to the radio and tape our favorite songs, only to have the endings cut off by the DJ? Those were some excellent times, and I've often felt that my kids were missing out on the joy of a mixtape.
Best Buy has a new product that seems to acknowledge these feelings that I and many other Gen Xers have. They now carry the ION Boom Box Deluxe, which is a portable Bluetooth speaker that also features a high-quality cassette tape player/recorder that plays your entire tape collection. You can also do what I did as a kid, recording stuff off the radio -- with either the built-in microphone or from another external source.
That's right. You can experience music the way we did as kids -- and without compromising on sound quality or tech! That's because it's also a Bluetooth speaker with all the modern connections to streams music wirelessly or connect via USB. It's a speaker, it's a tape recorder, it's a blast from the past with lots of modern features.
Other neat specs include:
- Dual full-range speakers
- A/C or long-lasting (10 hr) rechargeable battery options
- Records onto USB stick, making it easy to backup your old tapes
- AM/FM radio
- VU meters for perfect adjustment of sound levels
All of this comes in a very retro-looking boombox case. It's perfectly as I imagine my youth! The thing I love most is that you don't have to throw out your tapes. You don't have to pay someone to back them up for you. Using the USB tech, you can back up all your own stuff and keep your favorite music forever!
