RelaxUltima Neck Massager Review

As a writer, gardener, mom to six, and generally busy person, I often deal with neck, back, and shoulder pain. I've tried massagers in the past, but I can't really take much time out of my day to use a manual massager. When I was recently sent a RelaxUltima neck massager, I had to give it a try. In short, I LOVED it and signed up to become an affiliate. I'm hoping you enjoy this review to help you decide if it's right for you, too!

Benefits of the Relax Ultima neck massager

Features you'll find in this affordable gadget include:

  • Convenient remote control to change intensity and settings, including warmth and stimulation pattern
  • TENS technology that provides very gentle electric impulses for relaxation and pain relief
  • Warming setting that provides 107 degrees F comfort for improved circulation
  • 3 modes: Acupuncture, Massage, and Tapping
  • 15 intensities for more customized experience

How does the Relax Ultima work?

Getting it out of the box and ready to go is simple. You'll just make sure the battery is fully charged, and it uses a standard USB connection to recharge the battery. Once charged, the red light will turn from flashing to solid. Now, you can use the device!

Before you use it, dampen the skin on the back of your neck where the metal contact will touch it. I use an unscented, natural baby wipe to do the job quickly, since I always keep a package nearby. After your neck is dampened, put the massager around your neck with the sensors to the back.

You can now turn it on. Use the remote to either change the mode or the intensity. The modes are as follows:

  • Mode one: Acupuncture, which works well for a neck injury
  • Mode two: Tapping mode, designed to help relieve chronic cervical pain
  • Mode three: Massage mode, which is appropriate for generalized neck pain, soreness, stiffness, or discomfort

When you change the mode, it defaults to the lowest setting for that mode. So, if you turn up the intensity for Mode One, then decide you want to switch to Mode Two, you'll have to turn up the intensity again to the level you are comfortable at. I like this feature, as some modes are too intense for me at higher levels.

There is also a heat mode that feels so good. Once you press the button, it makes a nice radiating heat that I can feel loosening up my neck muscles. Like most massagers with heat functions, it seems to make the effects of the session last longer.

What does the RelaxUltima feel like?

If you're never used a TENS device, the first time may be a bit surprising. It doesn't really hurt, but there is a very targeted pressure that feels like little sticks poking your neck. If it feels too sharp or hurts, you can turn the intensity down. If you don't feel anything at all when using it (or it's not very intense even after turning the levels up) you may not have a good contact between the metal posts and your neck. Try repositioning the massager or resetting your neck for better results.

Follow the directions when using it, and do not use for more than 15 minutes at a time. It automatically shuts off when you should stop using it to make it easy not to overuse.

Who is the RelaxUltima for?

I think it's for everyone who could benefit from a simple massage, but if you fit in the following categories, don't use the product

  • anyone with a pacemaker or implanted medical device
  • those with metal implants
  • patients who have received artificial heart, lungs, or life-saving electronic devices

Also, this is a device that relies on electrical impulses to work. Avoid using it near explosives or flammable materials (including gas) and don't use it near your heart or any electronic medical device.

RelaxUltima Massager Review Summary

For someone who finds it hard to focus on my posture and neck health, I like that this device fits into my busy schedule. I can tell my neck is less tense and my shoulder pain has resolved since using this for 15 minutes each night while watching TV. You can easily use this any time, and the results are immediate and build over time.

I would highly recommend this for anyone who has a tired, achy, or stiff neck or suffers from repetitive stress injuries that are caused by poor neck posture or strain from sitting at the computer. Plus, it's super light-weight (just a little over 5 ounces). The charge lasts a month, so you can bring it anywhere.

Since it has an ergonomic design, adults with large or small necks can use it easily. Unlike some handheld massagers or massage guns, it is a truly hands-free solution that soothes sore neck and shoulder symptoms with deep tissue benefits. I've found my tight muscles around the neck to be much more relaxed since I use this every day. It's been quite the game-changer for this mom who sits at a computer daily.
