Review of Barbie "I Can Be.. Zoo Doctor" and TV Chef Playsets

We like Barbie at our house, and we especially like the playsets that include everything you need for a fun-filled afternoon of imaginary happenings. We recently got to try out two new Barbie playsets:
  • Barbie I Can Be.. Zoo Doctor Playset - This is great for kids that like animals! This kit includes Barbie, some cuddly baby animals, and everything a doctor would need for animal checkups! (The "working" X-Ray was our favorite, but the stethoscope and cute baby bassinet really keep the kids busy!)
  • Barbie I Can Be.. TV Chef Playset - Food lovers unite! This playset features everything kids need to film their own Barbie cooking show. Realistic camera, kitchen gear, and yummy food props give the look and feel of the finest chef programming. (Check out the countertop mixer!)
For parents looking for a bit more inspiration from their Barbie dolls, these sets can do just that. Lots of variety and possibilities for play keep these sets fresh. (And where can I get Chef Barbie's cooking Kimono?)

Do you dig Barbie, too? We are giving 2 winners a prize pack containing BOTH the TV Chef and Zoo Doctor playsets! Valued at $14.99 each playset, this is a perfect prize for your Barbie-lover. To be entered, just leave a comment on this post with your favorite Barbie memorie. If you don't have one, tell us why you want to win. Leave your comment here by Friday, October 31 at 5 pm CST. Giveaway is subject to complete site rules. (Be sure to give us a way to reach you if you win, and remember that we will never use your email or contact info for anything other than to send your prize.) Good luck!

And for even more prizes, check out the rest of contests over at Bloggy Giveaways! (And check back this week for more of our own prizes.)

We grew up playing with Barbies. We had one of the original ones that are worth $$$ if you can find a mint one these days. The one my sister had WAS mint. When she outgrew Barbie I got all of her Barbies and I LOVED to give them haircuts and I cut all the hair off of that original Barbie. My mom NEVER let me live that one down!

Another memory I have was back in the 70's (I think it was 76'?) all I wanted was Ballerina Barbie. My mom had a heart attack and was in the hospital for Christmas. That Christmas Eve she let me open up ONE present while I was on the phone with her (they wouldn't let me visit her in the hospital because I was too young). The present I opened was Ballerina Barbie!!! It was the BEST present ever!

  141. My favorite barbie memory is this. I have a twin sister and we were at my grandmas visiting, we took our barbies and wanted someone to play ken so we wouldn't have to play both parts. 2 of my boy cousins were there and we made them be ken and they were not so happy about it but we had so much fun.

  142. Being a child in a large family left little money to buy much more than groceries. When I was 9 we moved to a neighborhood and I met my lifelong best friend. She, unlike me, came from a small family and she had every Barbie, Midge, Skipper and all the accessories you could think of. I lived for the two hours a week of heaven when we could play "Barbies" on Saturday morning.

  146. I remember I was 6 years old and needed to go to the dentis, I was terrified beyond belief because I needed to have a non-loose tooth pulled. My aunt took me to Hills(a store back in the day) after my appointment and bought me the Barbie horse, back then it cost like $14 which was a huge sum for a toy. But I loved that horse and my western Barbie with the winking eye.
