Take Lunch Outside This Spring With 5 Easy Olive Ideas

I get so excited when it turns warm here in Nebraska. Why? Because that means picnics outside!  Since my kids can be such messy eaters, the thought of them taking their food in the yard, brings me relief. (Have you tried sweeping up after 6 kids, 3 times a day?)

We really love olives at our house, so when we were asked to incorporate the new Pearls Olives to Go! packs from Musco Family Olives, I was really excited.  My kids can devour a whole can of olives, but having single-serving packages of them has actually proven to help us keep our portions in check and our olives fresher longer.

Just how have we added these yummy olives to our outdoor lunches?  Here are my kids' favorite ways:

1. Going solo.  Olives are a great snack all on their own.  As a side dish, they get eaten immediately upon putting them on the kids' plates.  Even my baby likes the sliced black olives as a treat!

2. On a salad.  Crunchy greens and savory dressings are just begging to be topped with the Kalamata or whole black olives.  I especially like this Chickpea Cob Salad with a few olives for a garnish.

3. In a wrap.  A little lunch meat, cream cheese, and some black olives make a super filling for a tortilla.  Roll one up tightly and slice into "pinwheels" for a fun finger food.

4. With a relish tray.  Carrot sticks, celery, and broccoli florets are good company for olives on a serving tray.  Add a basic dip for even more flavor.

5.  Baked up in a bread.  Did you know you can add olives to baked goods?  This Kalamata Olive Bread with Oregano looks amazing!

Since olives are a gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, cholesterol-free, trans-fat-free, GMO-free, vegan, and Kosher snack, you can be assured that almost every kid will find them a tasty and fun way to snack outside this season.

These super-portable olives are now available at Walmart.  Pick up a 4-pack of the Kalamata, Black Pitted, Black Sliced, and Pimiento-Stuffed Green Spanish olives for your next outdoor adventure.  With no messy juice to deal with, they are a pretty tidy way to snack in the car, too.
