Dr. Seuss Releases a NEW Book For You (And Remember 44 Classics, Too!)

I was such a big Dr. Seuss fan growing up.  In fact, I learned to read very early (before age 3) and I remember reading the few Seuss books in my home over and over and over.  I was quite the egg-head (still am), and I credit Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham, or course, but I also had a few favorites that haven't been around in a few years.

One of those books was The Cat's Quizzer, which I think I read a hundred times.  It was full of silly riddles, games, and puzzles that weren't exactly always solvable.  In typical "cat" fashion, it was clever, witty, and more tongue-in-cheek than actual Q&A.  I was so lucky to be able to get a new copy of this book last week to relive my favorite childhood memories:

The big news of the day, however, isn't about old things. It's about the new!  In fact, today is the day we see the launch of a newer-than-new book from Dr. Seuss.  What Pet Should I Get is out, based on a an original manuscript with accompanying sketches by Dr. Seuss, aka Ted Geisel, that was discovered in his home in 2013! That complete manuscript was turned into the book, released today by Random House Children’s Books. It is the first original new Dr. Seuss book since the publication of the last book of Dr. Seuss’s career, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! in 1990. This book is all about the hard decisions behind getting a pet, and features the brother and sister characters that Dr. Seuss drew in One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

I don't believe there is an American student today that doesn't know who Dr. Seuss is, but just in case, here is a quick bio:
Theodor “Seuss” Geisel is one of the most beloved children’s book authors of all time. His long list of awards includes Caldecott Honors for McElligot’s Pool, If I Ran the Zoo, and Bartholomew and the Oobleck, the Pulitzer Prize, and eight honorary doctorates. Works based on his original stories have won three Oscars, three Emmys, three Grammys and a Peabody. Geisel wrote and illustrated 45 books during his lifetime, and his books have sold more than 650 million copies worldwide. Though Theodor Geisel died on September 24, 1991, Dr. Seuss lives on, inspiring generations of children of all ages to explore the joys of reading. Will you be going out and buying the new book?  While you're waiting to hit the book store (or Amazon), be sure to check out the other 43 stops on the Vintage book tour.  You'll find dozens of old school Seuss reads being remembered and reviewed, just like The Cat's Quizzer!  Stop at each book stop below:
