Review of Millionaire Kid's Club Books by Money Savvy Generation

We've already told you how impressed we were with Money Savvy Generation's Kids at Home products.. so this review had us excited from the get-go!

Reading can be fun and educational at the same time, but how many really interesting kids books are available about finance? The Millionaire Kid's Club Series answers the call with their colorful illustrations and characters. Each 32-page book features kids as unique as your own, who go about their daily lives in search of answers to common money problems.

In Putting The "Do" In Donate, the main character is given $100 from his pastor and is told to find a creative way to put it to use. With the help of his friends, he is able to turn that simple money gift into a big blessing for others.

Garage Sale Riches puts the kids in the middle of a garage sale, where they have the opportunity to shed some material items in exchange for a little cash. They face decisions regarding what they will sell, and how they will use the money.

In both books, teamwork and responsibility are showcased in a way that children will understand and appreciate! The modern approach to classic money values helped to get my kids excited about the books. I'm sure your children will also find them refreshing and full of opportunity!

Want to win a set? Money Savvy Generation is offering one lucky reader a chance to get both books (a $26 value) just by commenting on this post! To be entered, visit the Money Savvy website, and let us know of another product you think your kids would enjoy -- here! Please be sure to include a way to reach you if you win! Review of Buckle-Pals Seatbelt Strap Holders

Let me start off this review by saying that this is NOT a safety product. The Buckle-Pals products are designed for convenience (and they do this wonderfully), not as a gadget to be used during regular car seat use.

That being said, I think you'll find it to be a super addition to your favorite travel products! The Buckle-Pals Seatbelt Strap Holders are very simple and easy to use. Once you wrap them around the car seat back, they stay put -- ready to hold your child's safety straps until they are sitting and ready to be buckled!

Why would you use this product? Have you tried to get a squirmy toddler of infant into their car seat, only to have them sit on their own seatbelt straps? Throwing the straps out of the way just have them fall back into the seat as you're putting your little guy into the seat is so frustrating! This product handles the situation with ease....

In addition to car seats, the Buckle-Pals can be used with any child product that uses safety straps (strollers, carseats, swings, etc...) We loved how easy they are -- anyone can figure them out and install them (no hardware required) in less than a minute! There were two per package, so we had one for each car!

The Buckle-Pals Collection from Dookz is available online at their website.

Review of HABA Pretend Food Toys

Play food is perhaps one of the most adorable and innovative toys commonly enjoyed by today's kids. What's more exciting than preparing a meal just like grownups?

HABA has introduced a new line of pretend eats that bring "cute" to a whole new level. The European toy manufacturer has developed fabric play foods that are lovable and can easily provide hours of kitchen fun for kids! If the way my kids took to the toys are any indication of their attention-getting abilities, you are in for a real "treat!"

Gaining in popularity for their simple vision and focus on safety at all levels, HABA has won me over with the grocery store items. We tested a Bavarian pretzel set (complete with mustard packet, blob of mustard, and little sausages that stick together with magnets), Doner Kabob (don't let the name scare you -- it's a pita pocket with all the fixins!), and Grill set (includes fish, steak, kabob, and more sausages.)

The toys are tactile dreams, offering the chance to string a kabob on a long wooden stick (super for hand-eye coordination), squish a beanbag fish, or sprinkle little felt lettuce pieces. Materials are colorful and soft to the touch, using everything from microfiber to cotton for a variety of textures.

The kitchen creations, which are intended for ages 3 and up, are a delightful way to spend a rainy day. To see the complete HABA food line, visit their website at www.habausa.com!

Review of ProBugs Organic Whole Milk Kefir

I'm sure you are no stranger to all the portable yogurt products designed to excite young kids with their sugary flavors, bright packaging, and highly commercialized promotion. My kids scream for those yogurt drinks that offer more calories than calcium, and cost so much -- I question their value.

Maybe it's time for you to try a healthy alternative that the kids will love as much (if not more) than their popular counterparts: LifeWay Foods has introduced a line of organic whole milk kefir that my kids have gone ga-ga over! If the packaging isn't cute enough for you (they are totally and completely spill-proof), maybe the flavor names will get ya! Our favorites are the Orange Creamy Crawler and Goo-Berry Pie. Inspired by the live active cultures that reside in the yummy snack, ProBugs is healthy for little tummies and packs a dose of calcium that moms and dads might enjoy, too! This naturally sweetened probiotic snack is packaged in pouches that contain no phthalates or bisphenol-A (so you can be sure they are safe.)

This went over so well at our house, we are searching the health food market for more! For additional information on the ProBugs products, visit Lifeway Foods website, or find them at a store near you, using the handy Store Locator.

Review of Listerine Smart Rinse

I'm not usually a fan of mouthwash, it can burn or taste horrible. When I do find one that tastes great, it usually isn't that effective against bad breath or tooth problems.

Listerine Smart Rinse addresses both problems very well. It tastes great (like a fresh spearmint), but isn't too strong. It is designed to be used after brushing, and it indicates how much yuck was remaining in your mouth by tinting it a funky green in your bathroom sink. (yuck) This unique feature aside, it really works! By killing bad breath germs, protecting against plaque, and giving your teeth a dose of fluoride, it is a safe bet in the war against tooth decay!

Listerine creates a full line of mouthwash, and this one might by my favorite! Remember to wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything after using this wash, and check it out at your local drugstore or Drugstore.com!

Review of National Geographic's Green Guide Magazine

Like most moms I know, I am really trying to be more environmentally-friendly in my daily habits. I realize that it starts small: turning off the water when I brush, turning down my hot water heater a notch or two, recycling when I can. These are just a few ways to help out, but what else can I do?

National Geographic has put out another great magazine, with the claim that it is "The Resource for Consuming Wisely." Would I agree? I think so. The first of it's kind to reach a wider audience of normal families, the Green Guide doesn't assume everyone can afford to ditch their minivan for a Prius -- and they don't even ask you to.

Topics covered in the preview issue include how to improve gas mileage in your current vehicle, the 12 worst cosmetic ingredients, and how to look for safer food. All things that I care about, and each tip was applicable and easier to implement than the suggestions offered by some other green publications.

The publication has the kind of quality and class that you would expect from NatGeo, but without any snoot or sass aimed at those of us who are new at being green or only have one toe in the waters.

For complete subscription details on this quarterly gem, and to see all their great green blogs, visit www.thegreenguide.com.

Review of Gotta Go Mitts

Dirty potties aren't the only time you will want to protect a child's hands. What about while eating something sticky or when they insist on holding on to the filthiest railing on the public transportation system? Gotta Go Mitts might be the solution you're looking for!

Perhaps the simplest of all the hygiene products for children, the Gotta Go Mitts are effective, affordable, and totally no-frills! The very thin disposable mittens fit on almost any child's hand. They are roomy enough for easy on and off, but fitted to keep them from slipping.

The packaging is minimal, which means you can stick a pack in your purse or diaper bag for everyday outings. Completely waterproof (we know -- we tested them), they make also great liners for winter gloves!

Like most super products, the Gotta Go Mitts were designed by a parent (a Mommy) and are just another great way to keep kids clean and safe! Check out the simplest thing in hygiene at www.gottagomitts.com!

SAVE!! Readers who mention that they saw this product on our website will be able to take advantage of a Buy One Get One Free offer -- good until May 31, 2008. Just put that you heard about it from Lille Punkin' Reviews in the comment section when placing your order!

Review of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Financial Aid for College

College is a long way off for my kids, but I'm no stranger to the ins and outs of financial need. Having a spouse in college makes me especially interested in new college savings plans, grant opportunities, and scholarships. But is it enough to just go through the regular hoops that I knew about in high school?

The author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Financial Aid for College doesn't think so. In fact, David Rye, M.B.A. believes that there is much more cash available to us than we may know about. The purpose of his book is to clearly explain what money exists and how to get as much of it as we can. Through simple explanations, common to the Idiot's Guides, you will be taken through college costs, planning, applications, FAFSA's, and frugal tips for college life. If you need to know it -- it's in here!

Do you need access to a checklist for High School Juniors considering college? Curious about state aid programs? Wondering if you need a financial aid consultant? You will find answers to all of this and more in this comprehensive and organized handbook. A handy Appendix makes reference to other available resources.

Perhaps the least dry of all college finance books, this is a keeper. Students and parents can find much to learn in a easy and conversational format. There's no excuse not to know the latest on college financial planning!

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Financial Aid for College, Second Edition is available at Penguin and Amazon.com!

Guys, you can avert your eyes for a minute. This is a ladies-only solution to a common bra strap problem. Review of ShadyBaby Stroller Parasol

My babies are fair skinned (they get it from their Mamma!) so I am careful not to have them exposed to too much sunlight. Sunburn is serious business that greatly increases their chance for skin cancer in their later years.

ShadyBaby
recently introduced me to their beautiful (I mean beautiful) stroller parasols, and they are fast becoming one of my favorite stroller accessories! The trendy designs are fun (I LOVE the sock monkey print.) The parasol itself is so easy to attach to any stroller handle, and it adjusts to three different positions. There is no way my baby's going to burn! The parasol offers SPF 50 UV protection in just seconds. I love that you can clip it onto folding chairs and outdoor playpens, too!

When we were out and about with our ShadyBaby, we loved how light-weight and portable it was. It folds up easily for storage, and keeps clean, too! The creators of ShadyBaby parasols knew what they were doing after experiencing the joys of parasols in Europe. (I'm so glad they brought this fun and functional concept here.) To see all the patterns and details of the ShadyBaby parasol, please visit their website at www.myshadybaby.com!

Review of Crayola Color Wonder Mess-Free Soft Sticks

My boys are always busy "creating" new pieces of art. The trouble is, there is often more mess than I can handle. Even the best cleaners can't keep my furniture and walls safe from a crayon casualty or a marker massacre.

When we tried Crayola's Color Wonder Mess-Free Soft Sticks recently, I was more than pleasantly surprised. While more costly than other markers or crayons, these clever little art "sticks" were easy to use and had amazing results. They worked much like pencil-sized glue sticks. By twisting the bottom of each soft stick, they popped out from their plastic casings (much like lipstick) and could be rubbed on the special Crayola paper much like a glue stick. The clear coating didn't do much at first, but if you waited a few seconds, brilliant color began to appear on the pages of the notebook. Orange sticks made orange patterns, yellow sticks made yellow, and so on. Preprinted patterns made each creation perfect; there was no chance for going outside of the lines. We were even able to "blend" some colors (green and yellow) to make new colors.

The soft sticks broke off occasionally if too much pressure was applied. They are safe and effective, however, at letting even the most inexperienced and undisciplined artists run wild with artistic inspiration. In three words: "We loved them."

The entire line of Crayola Color Wonder products can be viewed at their website. Available online at Amazon.com.

Review of Yes To Carrots

Yummy body butters are a passion of mine. While I adore unique scents and fancy packaging, what I want most is rich nourishment for my dry winter skin. I have found an ally in the battle against flakes and scales, and it is Yes To Carrots!

C Through the Dry Spell, Yes to Carrots' Body Butter, is appropriately named for its ability to banish the itchies and ashiness that comes during the dries of seasons. Blended with Carrot Seed Oil, Carrot Juice, Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, Dead Sea Salt, Cocoa Butter, Melon, and a billion (not quite) other delicious and nutritious ingredients, it sounds more like a breakfast smoothie than a skin care product. It goes on rich, feels silky, and has amazing healing potential. I love it on my dishpan hands and bumpy elbows before I retire at night!

The Paraben-free formula is rich in beta-carotein, which has ant-aging and anti-oxidant properties. Best of all, it doesn't smell like much of anything (and especially not like carrots!)

The full line of Yes To Carrots is available exclusively through Walgreens and HSN. For more information on their products or the Yes To Carrots Seed Fund (which assists local communities in acquiring a self-sustaining organic food source), visit their website!

DEAL ALERT: Walgreens is offering a $9.99 rebate on the purchase of the body butter until March 29th! With the butter being on sale for $9.99, this makes it FREE! All other Yes To Carrots products qualify for a $2 instant savings when you use promo code: deadsea

Review of Bizzi Bibbi

Driving 50 miles to pick up my daughter from her grandma's house is never fun. Even worse is having to drag the baby along with him throwing his bottle against the back of my car seat the entire ride. We get a mile down the road, he throws his bottle, he cries, I cry. Get it?

Bizzi Bibbi has saved my road trip. This ingenious little bib fastens with velcro around the little guy's neck. It has an attached clip for the binkie, AND a removable pouch for the bottle. He can drink happily (or not). Either way, that bottle is not going on the floor ever again!

This cleverest of inventions comes in several cute and quilted styles. In addition to boy colors, girl colors, and uni colors, there are stages for little ones of different ages:

My 1st Bibbi: Holds a small bottle and pacifier

My 1st Bibbi II: Holds a large bottle and pacifier

Bye-Bye Bibbi: Holds a large bottle, pacifier, and a toy

All Grown Up Bibbi: Holds a spill-proof cup and a pacifier

The bibs are not only cute, but they have an effective waterproof liner. Baby stays dry, and you stay sane. What could be better?

Check out all the options at Bizzi Bibbi's website and online store!
